Thanksgiving in the UK

I got up at 7 am, & was cooking by 9 all the way to dinner, just like the rest of the American women (and hopefully some men, too). Rolling out pie crusts, peeling potatoes, rotating the dishes in the oven every hour. YUM! I love this food. Lydia made her grandma's southern grits stuffing recipe (new to the northwest girl here). My contribution was a rowdy rendition Cain-style of pictionary. It's our tradition. We are die-hard about this game. Julie had a mini travel UK version, but it still did the job well. These are the beautiful, eloquently-drawn masterpieces of Lord Nelson, who stands proudly in Trafalgar Square (note the square on the left picture). How someone actually guessed this correctly is astounding (or was the other team cheating!!?).
I am very thankful for my Londongirls. I am thankful for my Seattlegirls. I am thankful for my family (who were missing in action on MSN that day....still holding a small grudge, which is why they got mentioned third!). I am thankful for my health. I am thankful of so many things. It was a great way to celebrate the holiday in London--holed up in Julie & Lydia's small flat, sitting on laps, cupfuls of port being passed around, and lots of laughter. Lovely.
